The Amansie Central District, has recorded low farm produce due to deplorable road network in the district.
Farmers are not able to transport farm produce to the market due to the deplorable road network in the district.
This has hugely contributed to low economic development in the area.
Some of the worried farmers who spoke to Abusua FM News reporter Osei Kwadwo, indicated that the despite the district being noted for food production in the country, they are also faced with poor road network which makes it very difficult for vehicles to convey foodstuffs to the market for sale from the hinterland areas.
According to them, the deplorable state of the roads have resulted in several losses as a result of the difficulties and challenges they go through in transporting their produce to the market.
However, residents in some villages of Amansie Central District such as Abuakwaa, Fiankoma, Abuntunsu have expressed worry about the high rate of pregnant women who lose their lives relative to the bad roads nature with high accident rate.
According to the residents, the situation gets worse during rainy seasons as the road becomes very unmotorable compelling people to trek long distances.
Some women in the area also said it’s always a nightmare for them getting pregnant because they suffer during delivery.
Meanwhile, the Odotobri 1st Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Osei Bonsu Bempah in a separate interview with Abusua Fm’s Nana Ama Annor admitted that the bad road network is severely affecting economic activities within the district.
He therefore appealed to government, the ministry of Roads to reward the district with Cocoa Roads Project since the district voted massively for the New Patriotic Party during the December 2016 general elections.
”When you go to Western Region, President Nana Addo during his 3 days tour announced massive road development in region. We are also appealing to come to our aid by fixing our deplorable roads here. I strongly believe that Nana Addo as a listening President will not turn his back to us” he said.
