THE MINISTER of Youth and Sports, Mr Isaac Asiamah, has said that the government has approved an US$ 8m budget for the hosting of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
“That will be used for the renovation of the stadia and other training facilities to be used for the tournament,’’ Mr Asiamah said.
The minister, who made this comment when he meet the press yesterday in Accra, said the amount would cater for renovation works at the Accra Sports Stadium, training pitches at El Wak and the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast in the Central Region.
The tournament will be held from November 17, 2018 to December 1, 2018.
He also said each Black Queens player will earn US$1,000 (GH¢ 4,500) for winning the maiden WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup of Nations.
This was after the Sports Ministry announced a financial package of US$ 32,000 to the team.
Last month, the Queens beat hosts Ivory Coast 1-0 to win the tournament.
