Former Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive under the erstwhile Mahama administration Richard Ofori Boakye Agyemang widely known as ‘Zuba’ says Ghana’s Movie industry is totally in Coma and has therefore charged the Creative Arts ministry to resurrect it.
According to him, there is a massively decline in the industry and that producers who have over the years invested hugely in the local move are gradually losing interest.
Speaking on Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, in reaction to a question asked him how he sees the current Ghanaian movie industry ”Kwame seriously the country’s movie industry is in coma and needs the Creative Arts industry intervention through government to resurrect it”.
”It’s only in Ghana that we think movie producers are solely responsible the growth of the industry but in actual fact the government need to invest there properly for the industry’s growth which one way or the other generate revenue to push the country”.
”If you look at the rate at which Kumawood was churning out movies every week, the Ghana Movie Industry was booming but if you look at the current trend, you would realize that the industry is sinking and in coma. The current Minister of Tourism,Creative Arts and Culture should put in pragmatic measures to revive the ailing industry”.
