Daily Heritage report gets results As Ga South Municipal Education Director donates desks to Tebu Basic School

FOLLOWING A front page story published by the DAILY HERITAGE on February 2, 2018,  captioned ‘Torture; Pupils Write Class Test On The Floor At Tebu Basic School’ in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region,  the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Felicia Okaine has donated eleven dual desks to the school.

The donation is the third in series by the education director in giving assistance aimed at solving the furniture crisis in the school.

Headteacher of Tebu M/A Basic School, Mr Emmanuel Bagut, in an interview with the DAILY HERITAGE said the director visited the school on Tuesday, February 6, four days after the story broke to make the donation. She assured them that the government would soon furnish the school with the needed furniture.

Mr Bagut said Mrs Okaine had really helped the school after she personally donated six round tables and 14 chairs to the kindergarten department of the school.

“I can say that as we speak, the kindergarten is okay in terms of furniture but the lower and upper primary, as well as the Junior High School is still facing the challenge. One unique thing is that the situation is not peculiar to the school, the whole Circuit has similar challenge,” Mr Bagut stated.

It would be recalled that on February 2, the DAILY HERITAGE carried a front page publication about the plight of pupils of Tebu M/A Basic School where pupils had to go through  daily ordeal of sitting and writing on the floor.

The school, with a population of 402, was compelled to manage only 20 desks in the school, a situation the head teacher described as very worrying.
