Fulani saga: Residents appeal to Akufo- Addo to Pardon Agogo people in prison

Residents of Agogo in the Asante Akyem North District of the Ashanti region have called on President Akufo-Addo to pardon indigenous Agogo people who have been jailed as a result of their incessant clash with Fulani Herdsmen in the area.
Speaking to Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo after Wednesday’s meeting with REGSEC they disclosed that some Agogo indigenes from Agogo have been remanded into prison custody for killing Fulani herdsmen.
Nonetheless, they want the first gentle man of the land to temper justice with mercy and release them from prison.
“Our people have done nothing wrong to be in prison”. they said.
“We don’t know why some of our people are still in prison for killing Fulani herdsmen. They have done nothing wrong they only protect themselves when the Fulani herdsmen attack them”.
”The Fulani herdsmen have killed some of our family members and they are still enjoying their freedom. We are appealing to Nana Addo to address our concerns”.
The Residents however commended the Inspector General of Police(IGP) for transferring Agogo District Police Commander DSP Samuel Azugu.
According to them, DSP Samuel Azugu was in bed with the Fulani herdsmen and always stood behind them instead of protecting [they] owners of the Agogo land.
“We now believe that government is committed to clamping down Fulani herdsmen from Agogo. At first government was joking as far as Fulani issues were concerned”.
