A/R: 9 Illegal Minners Arrested At Ntonteng

Nine (9) illegal miners were on Wednesday 29th November, 2017 arrested at Nkonteng near Nkawie in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti region by the Nkawie Forestry Commission.
The illegal miners were arrested when they stormed the Jimira forest reserve to do mining.

They culprits are Michael Gyamfi, Kwame Kwakye, Abdullai Iddrisu and Daniel Agyei.

The others are Haruna Seidu, Agyei Bernard, Kwaku Gyamfi, Afia Cynthia and Adunai.

 The Nkawie District Forestry Commission Manager Nana Opoku Bosompem speaking to the media warned Ghanaians especially the youth to refrain from encroaching forest lands.
He also advice Ghanaians to stop illegal mining and respect the ban on galamsey.
He therefore called Ghanaians to support government to combat illegal miners to make galamsey fight successful.
The nine persons arrested are currently at the Nkawie Police Station.
The Nkawie District Forestry Commission Manager has therefore called on the Chief Justice and Attorney General to consider empowering the law courts to sentence and hand out harsh punishment to persons who engage in illegal mining in the country.
